Susan Healy

South Salem

For eighteen years, Susan Healy has been successfully helping people feel better about themselves. At first, her focus had been exclusively psychotherapy. But over time, she knew an important part of a person’s wholeness was missing from traditional psychotherapy: a focus on the person’s health. As Susan researched and became certified in the field of nutrition, she began to help clients with their overall health and wellness. People soared.

When Susan first meets a client, her biggest question is how can we get you feeling better? And, this starts with health.

“Often, clients arrive in my office anxious or depressed and think we’re just going to talk and talk and talk about their childhoods and feelings. But, not at all. Sometimes, it’s not about your mother; it’s about your thyroid."

Science shows that nutrition is where we must start. The food we eat is our main medicine. It’s affecting our moods, outlooks and energy levels. This is why my clients and I explore where they can make basic changes to get what they’re looking for ~ and to just plain feel better.

Contemporary psychotherapy is about balancing psychology with biology. It is in how the foods we eat (or don’t eat) directly effect our moods, thoughts, and energy levels. Susan combines nearly two decades of clinical psychotherapy with cutting-edge training at The Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Outside of her office, she also enjoys organic gardening and cooking.
