Susan McCandless
My name is Susan but I go by Sue, mom, sister, daughter and so many more. I have worked in the hair biz since 1999. I am a small town girl with big city dreams. I have lived in my hometown all my life and yes I am ok with it. I struggle with that at times and desire to be out in the BIG world but home is where my heart is. I am a Christian, single mother, and a Hair Stylist. Those are the three most important things about me. If you sit and have a converstaion with me I will bring one if not all three of these things up. I started in the Hair world back in 1999 and had no clue that it would be such a passion of mine. There are not to many things I don't love about hair. (I can't say there is nothing because the second I do then there is that one thing that comes to mind that you know I really don't like doing.) I just recently opened my own Salon after working both as a commission stylist and a booth renter. I never saw myself as Boss material that is why I want my team call me their co-worker or leader. On to the other parts of what makes me, Me. I grew up in Sedalia, MO graduated from Smith-Cotton High school in 1997 married my high school sweetheart. In 1997 I became a mother and started working for my famiy's resturant. Shortly after that I decided to go to Cosmetology school. After graduating I started at a 4 chair salon and work for a brilliant lady whom taught me lots. In 2004 I became a mother of 2 and made a career move and went to booth rent at another salon. It was new and exciting and I got the chance to see what self employment was like. After 8 years of that and many life changes divorce, the death of my childrens father and such I began my journey into being a small business owner. I am 12 months into this and have never been happier. I have an amazing team and look forward to the future. I have lost so many people in my life and had made the realization that life is to short and living is the only option for me and my girls. I have realized that this paragragh has been just more about hair but really that is who I am and I am ok with that. ***_UPDATE_***Fast forward to December 2015: Becoming a salon owner has been a great adventure!!! Since opening in 2012 I have seen some stylists come and some go. I became a mother once again of one handsome little guy, got my instructors license, became an instructor at a local Codmetology/Barber school. Life is great and the one thing I feel that has made my life as salon owner the most comfortable has
