I started working seasonally for a big "box" tax firm as a way to earn additional income to put aside for my children's education. I really do enjoy tax work! Eventually I was working long hours, doing not just individual returns, but partnerships, estates, trusts, and corporations as well. I managed one of their "executive" tax offices for awhile, but I was dissatisfied with a number of issues and decided to become my own boss. In the "off" season I take tax classes, prepare for the next tax season, and sometimes serve my clients. I encourage them to call me as life events happen if they are concerned it could affect their tax situation. It's always better to be prepared than surprised.
