Susan Arscott

Seabrook, TX

I worked as a high school teacher until I thought my head would explode from all the ideas and questions my students asked. Thinking it would be easier, I foolishly switched from teaching to the ridiculous job of professional fundraiser.

After spending more years than I want to admit begging strangers for money, I gathered what pride I had left and decided to forget about what I should do and instead do what I wanted. It was time to be bold. I quit my full-time, good paying job (crazy I know, some might even say idiotic and I would not disagree) and enrolled in Spalding University’s MFA program where I studied Writing for Children and Young Adults and became blissfully happy learning and working with other writers. I write Middle Grade and Young Adult fiction and screenplays because I love the energy and inventiveness of younger readers.

I am a member of SCBWI, The Writer’s League of Texas, and the International Screenwriters Association. I live in Seabrook, Texas with my husband Mike, our two children, Vlad the cat, and B. D. Jones the questionable dog.

My first YA novel, The End of Normal, was published October 2014 by Champagne Book Groups and can be purchased through any online bookstore. Check out my Works In Progress page on we website (http://susanarscott.com/books/) to see my current projects, they include YA and MG novels and screenplays.
