My teaching career began with a very enthusiastic group of stuffed animals in my bedroom in Weaverville, North Carolina. I graduated to real people in 1988 as a trainer for the Belk corporation and entered the world of English as a Second/Foreign Language in 1999 when I moved to the People's Republic of China and took a teaching position at Northeastern University in Shenyang. My textbook was a plaguerized copy of a 1963 SRA reading book that I recognized from my third-grade classroom. Nowadays I teach ESL for Wake Tech Community College in Raleigh, NC. I also supervise a program that trains people to do that same job. (The ESL Teaching Certificate Program)
