Susan Barkach

Susan Barkach began her postsecondary education by enrolling at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Michigan. Studying business and human resources, Susan Barkach earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1993. Upon graduation, Susan Barkach accepted a post at the Hospice of Michigan as a Benefits Analyst, where she held responsibility for managing health and welfare programs as well as unemployment and workers’ compensation programs. In 1994, Susan Barkach gained a promotion to Human Resources Supervisor, a position that required her to manage health and welfare programs for 1,000 employees throughout Michigan. In this capacity, Susan Barkach successfully reduced unemployment claims by 18 percent. Susan Barkach then found employment as Human Resources Manager at Acro Service Corporation, a consulting and staffing firm focused on engineering, information technology, office support, and industrial services. In this position, Susan Barkach directed human resources functions, improving several processes for recruitment, staffing, and retention. After earning a promotion, Susan Barkach served as Employee Relations Manager for the Field Engineering and Information Technology division at Acro. Simultaneously, Susan Barkach returned to school at Central Michigan University, studying business at an advanced level. Susan Barkach graduated with her Master of Business Administration in 2001. In 2003, Susan Barkach began operating as a Lead in the Human Resources department at Merge Healthcare, in which she oversaw and led company-wide recruiting and developed an efficient model for employee benefits, compensation, and training. Susan Barkach advanced to Lead of Human Resources and Organizational Development in 2006 and prepared business plans, developed recruiting programs across the U.S. and Canada, and created compensation programs that included base pay analysis, stock options, severance, and annual adjustment. Additionally, Susan Barkach served on the board of directors, the Compensation Committee, and a team devoted to mergers and acquisitions. Susan Barkach maintains ties to her professional network through involvement with the Society for Human Resources Management. In her free time, Susan Barkach contributes to Special Olympics and volunteers with Edward Hospital and girls’ fast-pitch softball. Additionally, Susan Barkach enjoys lifting weights, playing softball, hiking, and supporting college football.
