I am Gen. Susan J. Helms, commander of the 14th Air Force (Air Forces Strategic), Air Force Space Command; and Commander, joint operations command component to the space, US Strategic Command, Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. In an operational component of the US Air Force to USSTRATCOM, that has more than 20,500 employees responsible for providing missile warning, space superiority, space situational awareness, satellite operations, space launch and range operations. As a commander, JFCC space, and also directs all assigned and attached USSTRATCOM cosmic forces providing customized, responsive, local and global effects of space to support national, USSTRATCOM and combatant commander objectives.

I was commissioned from the University of the US Air Force in 1980 I served as an engineer separation of the F-15 and F-16 weapons and flight test engineer. As a flight test engineer, I also flew 30 types of aircraft in US and Canadian military. He also served as project manager in the aircraft CF-18 as the Exchange US Air Force for the Canadian Aerospace Engineering Test Establishment.
