Susan Lippencott
A graduate of Capital University Law School in Columbus, Ohio, Susan Fornof-Lippencott has served the citizens of Ohio’s Champaign County as a Municipal Court Judge since 1996. From the bench, Susan Fornof-Lippencott oversees a wide variety of cases. Civil suits up to $15,000 and small claims up to $3,000 fall under Susan Fornof-Lippencott’s purview. Traffic offenses such as speeding, operating a vehicle under drugs or alcohol, and overloaded trucks often require Susan Fornof-Lippencott’s judgment. Additionally, Susan Fornof-Lippencott rules in criminal offenses involving domestic violence, vehicular homicide, and assault. Besides trying cases, Susan Fornof-Lippencott aids the residents in other ways Champaign County through her position. Susan Fornof-Lippencott performs weddings, oversees trusteeships, and swears in mayors, police officers, and city council members, among other public officials. Her work in creating the county’s budget allowed Susan Fornof-Lippencott to develop without additional cost a new Probation Department, a division that promotes rehabilitation and counseling over fines and jail time for those found guilty of crimes. Susan Fornof-Lippencott is proud to be a third-generation local farmer along with her husband, having grown up in the town of Mechanicsburg and attended the schools where her grandchildren now study. Further serving her hometown community, Susan Fornof-Lippencott lends her expertise to the Mock Trials at West Liberty-Salem High School, speaks at schools throughout Champaign County, and acts as Attorney for the Mechanicsburg Area High School Alumni Association. She also supports groups such as the Cancer Association of Champaign County and the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, and reads at the Mechanicsburg Library “Seuss-A-Thon.” Holding a business degree from Wittenberg University, Susan Fornof-Lippencott also plants vegetables and flowers at her nearby Urbana, Ohio home.
