Belvedere, California

I can't imagine my life without books...nor raising children without books...I'm a Director of Communications and Development for Worldreader, a non-profit providing families across the developing world access to hundreds of thousands of e-books, giving them an opportunity to learn to read, become fully literate and change their lives.

I'm also an open water swimmer. In 2013, I swam the Strait of Gibraltar (from Europe to Africa) and, in doing so, I became the 25th American woman in history to do it. We also raised over $107,000 for Worldreader's literacy efforts in Africa. Next up is Crossing the Sea of Cortes - yikes! I've been a swimmer since I was 6 and was Captain of the Women's Swimming & Diving Team at Princeton.

I grew up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, spent a decade+ in Barcelona, and I'm now living by the ocean in Belvedere with my Mexican husband & two Spanish daughters who were in the French Lycee until 2013 when we arrived to the California Public School system. I speak Spanish & French and honestly believe we can and should eradicate illiteracy in our lifetime. And - I'm always ready to dip my toes in any water (I'm not afraid of sharks) and dance around barefoot to Daft Punk.
