That thing, that dream, for me is that ONE book, the ONE I am 'tweaking'.

As an editor, pages of written words are trusted into my hands:

to polish the red thread that connects them all, to turn that thread into gold.

My job is to get into the head of the author, become a character in the story, an expert at the subject matter, without compromising either.

My job is to help turn an excellent writing project into an outstanding masterpiece....

nurturing growth in the author, while keeping myself in the background.

My job is making the writer shine, quietly and outside the limelight.

While publishers and movie producers want to make a profit, writers want to maintain the integrity of their intellectual property

(and/ or become famous).

I mediate, by preserving both the author's ideas and the publisher's or producer's interest.

Feeling accomplished, famelessly proud.

It is, indeed, the best job in the world.

My passion is the written word.

My obsession is the most flattering use of adequate language for a purpose.

My job is to get a message across.
