Susan Reader

Susan Reader began her life in the moors and coastal City of Swansea, South Wales. Her background was that of a country girl, complete with the green fields and spending time on horseback. She still maintains a close bond with her family and many of her childhood friends to this day. She and her friends would often ‘dream’ of travelling the world and would make up stories together about places they would travel to when they grew up. Those dreams have now become ‘reality’ for Susan, who spends most of her time travelling the world on a budget and having fun. Susan firmly believes, "Having a few close friends is best because it’s more important to have a close knit circle of people around you that you can rely on rather than a large circle of meaningless acquaintances." Her sunny disposition and her positive attitude shine through her bright smile, and on the surface, one would never suspect that her success has been such a difficult journey. Beginning her career working for British Telecom with only an "O" level education, she worked there as a service analyst and was consistently involved with customer relations and other "people" building tasks. It was there that she learned how to negotiate customer needs and expectations. Now she is a successful entrepreneur, spends her time doing what she loves, travelling worldwide. Susan shares her experiences in budget travelling in her book 'Women Travelling on a Budget'.
