Susan Strayer LaMotte

Susan is the founder of exaqueo, a workforce consultancy delivering experienced strategy, realistic solutions and innovative thinking to companies who think people matter. She works in the intersection of where business meets behavior–how people behave, act and perform at work can make or break your business.

exaqueo challenges start-up and high-growth organizations to rethink the way they find, hire and manage talent. In particular, Susan leads consulting engagements for organizations that address and innovate talent, recruiting and employer brand challenges. She works with vendor partners to understand the talent acquisition marketplace and share leadership insights.

Susan has worked for big brands (Marriott, The Ritz-Carlton), been quoted in respected places (The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post) and penned some valuable insight (The Right Job Right Now (St. Martin's Press), Forbes). While at Marriott the employer brand she developed and managed was named "best employer brand" by ERE and the social media strategy she developed for HR was named #1 by Fortune magazine.

She's spent time learning business (MBA, Vanderbilt), human resources (MA, The George Washington University) and communications and PR (BA, Virginia Tech.) She also passed a long, tough test to show she knows her field (certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR)).

Her coffee-induced work ethic is spurred by new music, the start of football season, wine and cheese, shoes and a splash of Philadelphia-born honesty. She currently works and lives with her husband in Old Town, Alexandria, (old = 1749) just over the bridge from Washington, DC.
