Making use of sparse interwebs in rural Panama.
I was born a Chinese-Japanese-Canadian-Scottish Second-Generation American in the liberal bubble of Chapel Hill, NC. Growing up in an academic household, I became a voracious reader, aspiring author, modest photographer, and Peace Corps volunteer. My studies in Marine Biology took me to the US Virgin Islands where I worked with the National Park Service and gained the practical experience that has brought me to Los Santos, Panama.
I work with the community-based conservation group ProTortugas to protect and monitor nesting sea turtles who arrive at the thousands in mass nesting events known as arribadas. My work also includes teaching environmental education at three schools, promoting sustainable waste management, and collaborating with federal environmental agencies.
In May 2015, I will complete my service. Whats next? Soon come.
