Susi Henson established Eternal Spirits in January 2002 after completing a 1st Class BA Hons Degree in Fashion Design and a Masters Degree in Fashion and Textiles at NTU. Susi was born and raised in Nottingham and over the (almost) thirteen years of running Eternal Spirits the city of Nottingham has played an important part in her business. Situated in the Lace Market, Eternal Spirits is keeping alive a burning ember of the fashion and textiles industry that gave the area its rich history. Eternal Spirits designs have won a multitude of awards and gained a tremendous amount of press and accolade including Susi being a Finalist for the UK Young Fashion Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2010, a high calibre event held at London fashion Week. Susi’s passion for corsetry and historical costume has seen Eternal Spirits become internationally known as being one of the top Corsetieres in the industry and Eternal Spirits is now a worldwide name. However, the ethos of Eternal Spirits has always been to keep the products British made and all of Eternal Spirits products are handmade in Nottingham. Susi’s corsets have been shown globally in major fashion events, such as London Fashion Week, Cannes Film Festival, The Paris Lingerie Show and at an exhibition of international design talent in Japan and Susi has dressed international celebrities including Dita Von Teese, Leona Lewis, Courtney Love, The Scissor Sisters, Girls Aloud, The Saturdays, Britney Spears and even Royalty. Eternal Spirits offer an old fashioned bespoke service offering Corsetry, Bridal Gowns, Evening Gowns and Lingerie. Most of their business comes from word of mouth and the beautiful designs, finest quality fabrics and traditional Victorian corsetry methods alongside an old fashioned personal service. As this highly sort after label grows, the ethos of keeping everything truly British in both sourcing and production remains as does their mission to source as ethically and locally as possible. Awarded the Scarlet magazine ‘Best Corsetiere in the UK’, listed in The Independent’s Top 50 lingerie brands at number 11, and featuring in the Internationally published book ‘Second Skin’ as one of the world’s top 30 lingerie brands. As well as running Eternal Spirits Susi has also lectured at NTU on the Fashion Degree for 14 years part time, as well as doing work with NCN.
