Hire me

Suunen Atsuwe is a seasoned Social Development Consultant, Culture Shaper, and Disruptor with over 12 years of progressive experience in development and humanitarian programming, research, organizational development, capacity strengthening, and youth development across Nigeria.

At the heart of his work is a defining commitment: raising his own 1%—a generation of intentional, competent, values-driven, and socially conscious individuals equipped to lead, influence systems, challenge limiting norms, and create lasting impact within their communities and spheres of influence.

Suunen currently serves as a Social Development Consultant with In-Line Informatics Limited and DevOptions Limited and as Co-Founder and Executive Director of DevTrain Community and Entrepreneurship Development Initiative (DevTrain Nigeria). Through these roles, he provides strategic and technical leadership for initiatives focused on youth empowerment, climate action, good governance, community development, organizational strengthening, and sustainable development.

As a Culture Shaper, Suunen believes that sustainable development begins with people. His work therefore goes beyond delivering projects to intentionally building the capacity, confidence, leadership, and agency of young people and local institutions. Through training, mentorship, research, volunteering, capacity development, and community-based initiatives, he creates platforms that enable emerging leaders to discover their potential, strengthen their competence, and become catalysts for positive change.

He is a Youth Fellow of the Innocent Chukwuma Social Impact Fellowship at Lagos Business School, a Fellow of Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Nigeria's Open Minds, Young Voices Programme, an Active Citizen Fellow of Noble Missions, and a ChangeMaker Alumnus of the African Leadership Institute (AFLI). He also holds a Humanitarian–Development–Peace (HDP) Nexus Practitioner's Certificate from ActionAid Nigeria and Nasarawa State University.

Throughout his career, Suunen has led and supported multi-sectoral research, baseline and needs assessments, monitoring and evaluation, organizational strategy development, capacity-strengthening programmes, and community development interventions for government institutions, civil society organizations, international NGOs, and donor-supported programmes. His professional engagements have contributed to initiatives supported by institutions including the Canada Funds for Local Initiative (CFLI), European Union, ActionAid, Ford Foundation, Nigerian Women's Trust Fund (NWTF), Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Nigeria, WaterAid, and the World Bank.

His technical expertise cuts across youth development, climate resilience, governance and accountability, gender equality, WASH, social and behaviour change communication, humanitarian response, organizational development, research, monitoring and evaluation, and institutional capacity strengthening.

Beyond his professional engagements, Suunen is deeply passionate about the development of people. He believes that transformation happens when individuals are equipped not simply to participate in society, but to shape its culture, influence its institutions, and redefine what is possible for the generation coming after them.

His philosophy of “raising his own 1%” reflects this conviction. For Suunen, the 1% represents people who deliberately pursue excellence, character, competence, leadership, service, and impact—not simply for personal advancement, but to become multipliers of opportunity and positive change for others.

Through consulting, mentoring, capacity strengthening, institution-building, and community development, Suunen continues to invest in people and organizations capable of creating sustainable change. He aspires to contribute to a growing community of Culture Shapers—young people and emerging leaders who are equipped to lead differently, build stronger institutions, transform communities, and raise another generation of their own 1%.

His mission is simple: develop people, shape culture, strengthen institutions, and raise a 1% that creates impact far beyond.
