Even though she was born in San Francisco, Suzanna is an Alaskan to the core. She grew up in Wasilla, where she was an outdoor junkie with an enthusiasm for writing and the news. Those interests translated into adulthood, where she now works as a reporter at Alaska Dispatch News, Alaska's statewide source for news and opinion.

Before joining ADN in June 2012, Suzanna got her start at The Northern Light, where she covered everything from sports to public safety and even served one year as the paper's executive editor. She also spent two years at the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, where she reported on the city's vibrant arts community and spent two very cold winters covering the Yukon Quest International Sled Dog Race.

Nothing makes her happier than exploring Alaska and meeting the characters that populate it. Her reporting interests are varied, with a focus on energy, rural Alaska, food policy and outdoors. For the last three years she's been lucky enough to chase dog teams from village to village during the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. It's a full-circle experience for Suzanna, who grew up mushing dogs with her dad, Harry, a six-time Iditarod finisher.

When she's not planning her next adventure, she's probably out running, riding bikes, tracking down the best cheeseburger in Alaska or out playing in the mountains.
