Suzanne Lindsey
Teacher in Alameda, California
A longtime resident of Alameda, Suzanne Lindsey is a community-focused professional who has engaged in public activism for decades. Suzanne Lindsey’s social activities began in the 1970s, when she contributed time and effort to successfully opposing the building of nuclear power plants in Alameda County.
Ms. Lindsey subsequently experienced a tragic and life-changing event, as her son Scott died in a mid-air small plane crash. She began years of advocacy toward changing aircraft requirements, such that all small planes were required to carry chart-mapping transponders on board. She presented at various city councils on the topic, with her efforts helping to dramatically reduce the chances of another mid-air crash.
She holds a bachelor’s degree earned at San Francisco State University, and has also attained life-teaching credentials. Her background includes a position as a Mt. Diablo Unified School District elementary school teacher in the 1960s. She also has training in handwriting analysis and hypnotherapy.
