SWAB TEAM

Fairfax

Inspired by Mrs.Lori Nam, a two-time cancer survivor and current NHL patient, the Swab Team is a network of volunteers, patients, donors, and advocates established to raise awareness of non-Hodgkin Lymphoma and to improve the current climate for bone marrow donation (treatment for the cancer).

The Swab Team was founded as a collaboration between George Mason University student organizations, www.bethematch.org and www.swabandsavesomeone.org. The name "Swab" refers to the act of swabbing the inner cheeks during initial testing as a possible bone marrow donor candidate. The team plans to increase the amount of participation in cheek swabbing tests so as to assist the donor community in building a more enterprising registry.

This organization's vision is to challenge the way cancer is discussed in communities and to design new crowd-sourcing methods to rapidly fund raise, donate, volunteer and educate on the topic of NHL and similar diseases.
