Nick Brooks
Writer in Glasgow, United Kingdom
I'm a writer, born in Glasgow, Scotland, and about to graduate with a PhD in literature and creative practise. I've written and had published three novels, a number of stories and poems, and am about to move to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to teach. Actually, the update is I'm back in Scotland again. I love writing, reading, talking, eating and drinking, music and learning. I play the ukulele and guitar and harmonica, and enjoy training martial arts and bodyweight stuff....at the moment, my ambition is to achieve a free-standing handstand pressup.
I've a global jobhunt on my hands right now, so if anyone wants a genuine, top-drawer Scottish writer to come and teach creative writing/supervise PhDs on writing or literature, the Gothic, modernism, or anything about Scottish Literature, I'm your man.
I've lived in Scotland, England, Spain (twice), Hungary, and Malaysia, and I'm willing to consider pretty much anywhere.
In writing: new erotic haiku collection, Sexy Haiku, now available through Freight books. Finishing another novel, William John Jackie for Short, about a nightclub doorman who plans to kidnap his own son from his ex-wife.
Experimental visual/sonic poetry based on the sun's coronal activity, The Pure Rage, in the pipeline. First collection, in English/Slovak due out soon. It's called, The Dog in the Disco. I do spoken-word stuff too.
Dystopian novel, untitled just now, set in a future earth of child gangs and continent-sized landfill sites, is ongoing, as are quite a number of other writing projects.
I've suffered from focal dystonia since 2012.
