Swarna Kanchan is currently serving as a staff scientist (bioinformatics) at Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, Marshall University, Huntington, WV, USA. He served as a postdoctoral fellow at several institutes/universities, including INRIA Bordeaux in collaboration with the University of Bordeaux, France; the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology (under the Polish Academy of Sciences), Warsaw, Poland; and Boise State University, Boise, Idaho, USA. He worked as an assistant professor at the Department of Life Sciences, Presidency University, India. Dr. Swarna Kanchan obtained his Ph.D. degree in bioinformatics from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, Rajasthan, India. He published several peer-reviewed research articles, reviews, and book chapters, and authored and edited books with international publishers. He is an associate editor, peer reviewer, and editorial board member of international scientific journals and committees. He served as a technical program and scientific committee member in various conferences, delivered invited lectures, judged poster sessions, presented posters, and participated in workshops and conferences at national and international institutions in India, France, Germany, Switzerland, Poland, and the United States of America. His research interests include bioinformatics, next-generation sequencing and multi-omics data analysis, machine learning, COVID-19 genome assembly and lineage identification, wastewater epidemiology, metagenomics, protein modeling, protein function prediction, computational drug design, and molecular evolution.
