Jill Sweetapple

Jill Sweetapple graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Television and Radio Production and then worked in the television industry for over 20 years, primarily for Turner Broadcasting. She graduated from Florida State University with an MLIS on 2009, when she also attended the 2009 Georgia Archives Institute. She volunteered and interned for the Atlanta History Center, DeKalb History Center, Special Collections Department of Georgia State University and the Georgia Archives. At the Atlanta History Center she digitized 1/4 inch oral histories from the 1960s on Guitar Hero software on a Mac. For the DeKalb History Center she digitized the I Remember Hour oral history collection, migrating it from VHS tapes from the 1980s and 1990s to DVDs. She processed for the Women's Collection at Georgia State University and she learned about basic preservation techniques in the preservation lab at the Georgia Archives. Among other things! She worked as a document preservation scanner at Ancestry.com and as the archivist at the DeKalb History Center in Decatur, Georgia. She is now a reference archivist for the Georgia Archives in Morrow, Georgia. Her most impressive project was researching, planning, supervising and digitizing over 13,000 medium and large format negatives contained in the Guy Hayes Collection.
