Laurie Karr

I am the Head Coach of Buckeye Swim Club, coached 8 years at Olentangy Liberty High School and this past year at Olentangy High School. I have 30 years of teaching and coaching experience. I am the founder of Buckeye Swim Club and have lead the team to a 3rd place overall finish at the Ohio Age Group Championships, 2nd place small team and a 2nd place finish at the Ohio Senior Meet. I bring a passion for the sport of swimming and swimmers that is unparalleled by any in Central Ohio.

I earned my B.S. in Mathematical Sciences at Ohio State where I swam the distance and IM events. Growing up in Columbus, I swam for 14 years in summer league, college, AAU, USS and at Worthington High School where I was team captain. My swim coaching and teaching career began in 1983 at Worthington Pools and local summer league and USS teams. In 1990, with a mere dozen swimmers, I started Metro Five Swim Team. I live in Powell with husband Rick, and two children, both of whom attended Olentangy Liberty High School.
