The PATINS Project is a state-wide technical assistance network for the provision of assistive/accessible technology for assisting local educational agencies in the utilization and creation of accessible learning environments and instructional materials. As a sole source provider for the Indiana Dept. of Administration and the Indiana Dept. of Education, the PATINS Project provides a complete state NIMAS delivery process designed to support the IDOE and LEA's in addressing the statutory and final regulatory requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 2004.
Sandy Stabenfeldt is the SW Regional Coordinator for the PATINS Project and has been in this position since 2001. Prior to joining the PATINS Project, she served as a computer technology consultant for Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation. She received her B.S. in Elementary Education from Eastern Connecticut State University. In her current position she serves 36 School Corporations in Southwest Indiana. She assists school corporations in assistive and accessible technologies. She received training from CAST (Center for Applied Special Technology) in Boston on Universal Design for Learning and is the only certified trainer for Proloquo2Go in the state of Indiana. She has trained Indiana school personnel in various technologies over the past 12 years.
