Shing Wai Yung
Orthopaedic Surgeon in Singapore
Hi! I am Dr. Yung Shing Wai, an orthopaedic surgeon currently practising at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre. I specialise on foot, ankle, and shoulder surgeries.
My medical journey began in 1985 after graduating from the National University of Singapore with an MBBS degree. Five years later, my skills and knowledge were recognised when I was named a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. I further honed my expertise by completing sub-specialty fellowship training in Foot and Ankle surgery, as well as Shoulder surgery, at the University of Washington in Seattle in 1994. My commitment to my field was further solidified in 1997 when I was inducted as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore.
For a decade, I dedicated my efforts to Singapore General Hospital (SGH), where I became the founding director of the Foot and Ankle Service at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. In the year 2000, I embarked on a new venture, setting up my private practice at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre, though I continue to contribute as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at SGH.
In my clinic, I am a staunch advocate of a patient-centric approach. I believe in empowering my patients with a comprehensive understanding of all treatment options, detailing the benefits and drawbacks of each. I hold the conviction that patients should be at the heart of the decision-making process, with my role being to guide and advise them on the best course of action for their individual needs.
