Sydney McCollum
Student and Musician in Royse City, Texas
About Me
My name is Sydney_ and I graduated from Royse City High School in 2023. While in high school, I focused on the teaching career field. At Royse City, I have become very involved with the band program. I have been Drum Major, French Horn Section Leader, and a marching band soloist. I helped teach, organise, and I have become proficient in french horn and music literature. I want to be able to teach students one on one, so lesson teaching would be the best job to suit me.
Education
Education has played a huge role in my life, it has helped me understand myself better in many ways. It has exposed me to how I learn, the speed learns at, careers that interest me, and how to use electronics professionally. Education is the foundation for many careers in this day and age, so having a high school diploma or GED is wise and beneficial to getting a job. School is also a time many people learn life lessons, build lifelong relationships, and people also gain character. Over my years in the public education system, I have learned that my learning style is kinesthetic but only know this because I was exposed to the different learning styles, so know in the future I will be able to know how to learn new things by myself instead of depending on a teacher to teach me. I also have been shown jobs that would suit me by my teachers in the past years in high school. They have opened the door to teaching, and I have gained a love for music so my teachers have mentored me on how to become a band director. Education is something that people need to live because without it they would no longer grow, and I believe growth is the best thing a person can be blessed with in life.
