I'm a school librarian, a kidlit enthusiast, and I'm on the ballot for the 2017 Newbery Award Committee. If you're an ALSC member, I hope you'll consider voting for me.

Why? Because I'm passionate about children's literature and relish the opportunity to help select the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.

And while, yeah, there's some prestige associated with award committees, what really excites me is the chance to read critically as part of a team of professionals and impact child readers for generations to come...many of my favorite books brandish Newbery gold and silver- it's just absolutely thrilling to think I could help steer history in this way!
