Tabious Carter

Father, award-winning football player and entrepreneur, Tabious Carter is one of the most honest and charismatic voices in the motivational speaking arena. Raised in Fort Valley, Ga., Carter’s humble beginnings and strong family values nurtured his drive for success, competitive spirit and uniquely optimistic attitude. Known for his tenacity, Carter delivers passionate messages on how to succeed in any field, whether it is in a sports arena, classroom setting or corporate office. Blending researched materials, inspiring anecdotes and a dose of humor, Carter engages, entertains and encourages his audiences.

A standout athlete at Peach County High School, Carter excelled in football, basketball and track and field. Ranked among the nation’s top 15 prospects at strong safety and linebacker, he signed a full football scholarship with the University of Florida and transferred to Valdosta State University after his first season. A four-year starter at VSU, Carter served as team captain, motivating and teaching his teammates the art of the sport, as well as proper conduct and work ethic. He recorded 215 tackles over his career, was an “All Conference” and “All South” selection and was honored as Gulf South Conference Player of the Week three times. He helped the team achieve conference championships in 2000, 2001 and 2002.

After suffering a potentially-career ending ACL injury in the 2002 Division II National Championship game, Carter was determined to be a victor instead of a victim. He worked tirelessly to return to the game he loves, and, in 2004, was signed by the CFL’s Calgary Stampeders. Carter also played for the NAFL’s Georgia Generals.

Realizing the significant impact he could have on the lives of our youth, Carter switched his focus and served as a physical education teacher and multi-sport coach for three years. During his tenure, he coached varsity high school football, baseball and track and field. He led the track team to the Georgia State Track Championships and successfully mentored five football seniors who all earned full scholarships to universities around the country.
