Tonia A. Dousay

Professor and Dean in Anchorage, AK

Growing up in East Texas, the daughter of two U.S. Navy veterans, I was instilled with a deep respect for service and education, leading me to pursue a career in public education. I earned two degrees in Agricultural Education from Texas A&M ('98, '00) and a doctorate in Learning, Design, and Technology from the University of Georgia ('13), spending time in between as an instructional design at the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX).
My career has taken me from instructional designer to assistant professor to dean, with stops at the University of Wyoming, University of Idaho, and now, University of Alaska Anchorage. Throughout my career, I've championed the land-grant mission, striving to make education accessible and impactful for all. It is an honor to serve as the President Elect of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology, where I can advance this mission on a national and international scale.

At home, I'm supported by Kris, a U.S. Army veteran and former paramedic. We share our home with his service dog (Major), a cat (Mister), and a bearded dragon (Mary Jane). When I'm not working to improve educational opportunities, you'll find me hiking the Alaskan wilderness and taking pictures for iNaturalist.
