Takara • QuizUp Addicts

Munich, Germany

"Takara" was our shared Quizup account between me and my wife. The account was initially hers, until she decided to infect me with the madness. Whether it was love or malice, it's hard to say. But she got to pick the account name, and I just tagged along.

Some topics were hers, some were mine, and a few we shared. Both of us were fiercely competitive about our places on the leaderboards for Germany, but playing with boosts was out of the question.

The video above is an open admission of the extent of how crazy my game play had become. She played more traditionally. We've both reached peak QuizUp though, after finding that time spent answering the same questions over and over again to hold a spot on the leaderboards was less and less fun for us. So you aren't likely to encounter us there any more.

Our Principles of Good QuizUp Play

  • No boosts and no cheats.
  • We wait and accept rematches from defeated players.
  • We try to time the start of our next match so that we don't get someone we just played.
  • Rematch requests from winners are tacky. We don't send them and we generally don't accept them.
  • Always make time for friendly chats.
  • Relax, have fun, and be a good sports.

For the curious, our avatar is Professor Shoko from Kyousogiga, which my wife accepted as being "cute enough, but not too cute," after I suggested it. The wallpaper image is a subtle reference to the two of us playing together. I'm supposed to be the giant robot Bishamaru in the background, who is always ready to head into battle when she needs me.

"Takara" means treasure in Japanese, but my wife is German and I'm an American. We're a pretty global couple.
