Talibah Newman is a writer/director from Dallas,Texas. She received her M.F.A. from Columbia University's School of the Arts, made New York City home base, and has been making waves ever since.

Her poignant short films about precocious children and challenging family dynamics -- "Busted on Brigham Lane" and "Sweet Honey Chile" have garnered numerous awards including licensing on HBO.

Her work has been featured in the following film festivals to name a few: Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival, Los Angeles Film Festival, Bahamas International Film Festival, Urban World Film Festival, The Chicago Black Harvest Film Festival, The Palm Springs LGBT Film Festival, The American Black Film Festival, The Underground Film Festival in Minneapolis, The Pan African Film Festival, Rooftop Film Festival, and the Cannes Film Festival.

Talibah released a comedic web series titled "Famous Farrah" on Youtube in 2013. She most recently completed another season of her comedic series titled "First Dates" [Firstdates.tv] set to release 2019. Talibah’s film about gentrification in Bed-Stuy --Bodega premiered at the Pan African Film Festival and is currently rounding out a successful festival run. Most recently, Talibah completed a Virtual Reality series centered around the 1921 massacre of Greenwood Avenue/ Black Wallstreet to launch in 2019.

Diligently continuing to expand her craft, Talibah is currently working on an original television pilot and in the development phase for her debut feature film.
