About me:
As an opera singer, I never thought that I would write songs. I started out in the standard way, studying in a music academy, first in Israel, then in Europe at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and later at the Opéra National de Lyon’s opera studio, where I performed on the opera’s main stage with conductor Philip Pickett. I then worked with Zehava Gal in New York and she taught me what singing technique is truly all about.

I had the opportunity to showcase this when Maestro Kurt Mazur selected me to perform in his concerts with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. Other significant appearances include performances with major Israeli orchestras and ensembles, including the Israel Chamber Orchestra, the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, IBA, the Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra, the Israel Sinfonietta Beer Sheva, Atar Trio and Phoenix Ensemble on Period Instruments under conductors such as Leonard Slatkin, Nicholas Kraemer, Juan Pablo Izquierdo and Michael Schneider. Festivals include the Stuttgart Bach Week, the Felicja Blumental International Music Festival, Isrotel Classicameri Festival and the Abu Gosh Vocal Music Festival and I have also been invited to perform in events such as the concert celebrating 20 years of the classical music channel of the “Voice of Israel” and Acum's award ceremony for literature and concert music.

However, I have always been attracted to more popular forms of music as well, which brought me to become a member of the ensemble "Lyra", a unique group whos music is an original fusion of musical styles inspired by folk music from different periods and places.

The involvement with Lyra Ensemble inspired me to start writing songs. The songs I write are emotional, inspired by everyone and everything around me, a rich tapestry enhanced by my experiences, my musical environment and a vivid imagination.

Voice is what I know and I use this knowledge also in narration projects and for teaching.

What people said about my songs:
* “Tamar’s music is beautiful, at once personal and intimate yet universal in its message and emotion“ (Robert Messinger, music agent for several Oscar and Grammy winners at First Artists Management)

*"Very nice! Sounds good!" (Daniel Alcheh, composer & orchestrator)

*"Effective interplay of textual rhythm and melodic line" (Raymond Luedeke, composer & artistic director of Voice Afire Opera)
