Tamas Barok

Budapest - Hungary

I am a professional videographer, video producer. My knowledge based on an almost 20 years of experience in journalism and on 12 years of video production.

In 2001 I was on of the 3-4 people in Hungary who had skills and opportunities to make video coverages alone. Thanks to the brave chief editor at VIVA Hungary (part of VIACOM Limited) to gave me the chance to use professional cameras, and edit suites for daily production.

At the same time I have to say thanks for the BBC World Service, especialla for Charles Fletcher, who become a very good friend since we meet in Budapest in 1996. We started or own business in the late 90's, and get experience all over the continent from Edinburgh till Sofia, from Tirgu-Mures till Tirana.

I have to say thanks to my parents also. They were my first inspirators. My loved Mother Klára Szentmariay had a great sense for the art of post production in case of film developing. Se worked for the biggest names in Hungary as a perfect help to fulfill their artistic ambitions. Péter Korniss, András Szebeni, Ilona Nádor and many more photographers.

My father Peter Barok was a journalist. Guess what? My first memories from my young life are the noises of the big electronic typewriters in the small editorial rooms somewhere at Dohány utca in Budapest. We are now so far from that but these basics are important.

I believe I am still some of those who has a combined knowledge. I have a strong journalism skills, but at the same time I have a professional production background also.

And more...I made complete creatives for big PR companies like Grey Worldwide or HPS. Made TV production for VIVA, MTV Hungary, StoryTV, Viasat3. And make videos - at lest 200 per year - for web version of the best sold daily tabloid in Hungary called BLIKK. At the same time small or big companies by in my knowledge for their PR films, viral films or any other video documentations.
