Women's Empowerment, Nutrition, and Agriculture in Nigeria
Featured by Food Tank, Tambra Raye Stevenson, the founder of NativSol Kitchen, is leading a new initiative called WANDA: Women Advancing Nutrition Dietetics and Agriculture to empower women & girls to lead and create healthy communities in Africa and the Diaspora. Appointed by D.C. Mayor Bowser, she serves on the D.C. Food Policy Council and is the author of the "Where's WANDA?" book series featured on Voice of America.
The 2014 "Nutrition Hero" by Food & Nutrition Magazine was featured as a National Geographic Traveler of the Year for her passion of finding her Fulani roots in Niger and Nigeria propelled her to promote the health of African heritage foods.
Her work has been highlighted by the Washington Post, National Geographic Traveler Magazine, She Leads Africa, Huffington Post, Cuisine Noir Magazine, BellaNaija.com, and NBC4.
She has spoken in Nigeria, Sweden, Ghana, South Africa, and Ethiopia on nutrition and health equity. She is a graduate of Oklahoma State and Tufts.
