Tameka Bland began her career as a professional hair stylist in 2002. Her love for hair was developed at an early age and she believed it was the avenue to take her to greater things including entrepreneurship and a way to give back to the community. TaMeka has always believed that true success comes from sharing in the blessings you’ve been provided and investing in yourself.

In 2009 Tameka opened Visions Hair & Nail Salon, her first foyer into business ownership. Tameka nurtured her gift of hair styling by building an impressive clientele and establishing vendor connections. She also learned that it takes more than great product to maintain a successful business and closed her shop in 2012.

Not easily dismayed Tameka continued working as a stylist, while studying to improve her business acumen and working with mentors to learn from her previous mistakes. In 2016 she applied this knowledge and opened Michael J’s Clothing, an urban wear boutique that focused on an untapped market.

Following the success of Michael J’s , she opened the hair salon Krown’d Beauty Bar in 2017. Seeing a gap in the market for quality hair products that catered to Black women, Tameka expanded the brand and developed Krown’d Kurls Ultimate Hair Products in 2018. Using her vast knowledge of ingredients and the needs of her client’s hair she developed formulas that would provide the desired care while avoiding cheap, harmful fillers.

Tameka has always placed high value on building relationships with her clients, vendors and other business owners. She has used her connections to organize and sponsor numerous community events including Back to School supply drive, Christmas Toy drive, Annual Halloween Party for the West Louisville Community alongside Coles Event Center, Mommy and Me Natural Hair Workshop (postponed due to Covid-19), as well as the Teen Mom Brunch.

TaMeka and her husband Kevin, have recently embarked on another journey developing an app that caters to the community by way of grocery, restaurant, and pharmacy delivery. This app will initially focus on the West-End of Louisville which is an underserved community repeatedly ignored by national delivery apps.

Outside of hair and fashion, TaMeka’s hobbies include being an active basketball mom, reading, riding bikes and spending time with her 1 year old granddaughter.
