(President) Tameka Polk, RN, BSN, MSN, is a Registered Nurse with acute, long-term care and psychiatric healthcare experience.

She graduated from Midland College School of Nursing in Midland but initially received an Associate’s degree in 2004 as a divorced single mother of two. She graduated from University of Phoenix in summer of 2013 with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing. Next she obtained her Masters of Science in Nursing in the summer of 2015. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Nursing Practice with future plans of obtaining a clinic that services the underserviced community. Her passion is to assist those in the community that lack the resources to obtain necessary medical help. Ultimately, she plans on opening a mental health clinic that serves the African American population and offers therapeutic groups for family members of the mental health patients.

As a former member of the American Nurses Association (ANA), Tameka is familiar with the coordination and collaboration needed to plan, host, and execute community service events. She is hands on and loves to give back. She is energetic and continuously planning strategic means of reaching her desired population.

Tameka is a proud an active President of the Black Nurses Rock West Texas Chapter! She has a passion for mentioning the youth, single mothers as well as providing assistance and awareness to individuals in need. She is wanting to spread awareness to the community through advocating and educating in the rural areas. She is natural team leader and motivator and enjoys helping others reach their full potential.

In spare time she teaches CPR or ACLS to those in need in her community. Tameka’s youngest son was born prematurely forcing her to pursue a desire to assist mothers who have children with medical needs or disabilities. She and her colleague are currently working on opening a daycare for the disabled or children with medical needs. This center would allow parents to return to the work force while resting assure that their beloved child is in good hands.

When she is not working she’s usually brainstorming on the next big idea or applying to differing schools. She is a member of many book clubs and enjoys watching her children in their extracurricular activities. She is the ultimate traveler and budgeter. She enjoys seeing new things. She is the proud mother of three sons 19, 15, and 5.
