Tammy Dressler

Hi there, I am Tammy, a wife, mom, gramma, and DIYer, who loves Jesus and aspires to become a minimalist. My husband and I are starting a journey toward better health through traditional foods. He is a letterpress operator and I work two part time jobs and am currently completing my B.A. in Biblical Foundations at Multnomah University, where I will begin studies toward an M.Div./Theological Studies in the fall.

I love spending time with my three wonderful granddaughters. I am a DIYer and enjoy making soaps, lotions, and cleaners. I enjoy gardening, scrapbooking, knitting, and learning... always learning.

In 2014 my husband and I sold our 2300 square foot home and temporarily moved into an apartment. In January 2015 we purchased a home that is just over 1000 square foot in size . The upshot of the situation is that we are gaining a personal perspective on what it means to minimize. The process is sometimes a bit painful, but we are learning to let go of things.

The end goal of working completing my formal education is to teach Bible from a linguistic and historical perspective. What does that mean?

From a linguistic perspective, it means I want to know the original languages well enough to be able to shed light on words that may be overlooked or misunderstood for any number of reasons ranging from the fact that quite often words are translated from the original into several different English words, or because we do not have an exact equal to the word in our language.

From an historical perspective simply means that I wish to be able to give historical background information that helps to bring the text to life and so that people can see the importance of things that we might normally pass over as unimportant.

I often wonder at the wisdom of beginning a higher education after one's children have grown and grandchildren are a major part of one's life. But then I remind myself that Grandma Moses did not start painting until she was 80.

I plan to live long enough to see my 100th birthday , so I have lots of time.
