Tammy Hurt
Atlanta, Georgia
A little about my background...
Growing up, my mom played keyboards and sang in an all-girl band in Knoxville, TN, called the Body Shoppe. And upon first laying eyes on a drum kit – that was it for me. I started playing drums when I was 4 - professionally when I was 14. I played drums in every type of band – marching / concert / symphonic / jazz / garage bands in middle school and high school. My favorite type of music has always been rock and roll music. When my folks divorced in 1975, my mother moved us to Atlanta and took us with her to her first job interview, at Alex Cooley's Electric Ballroom. She worked with Alex assisting with promoting concerts at various venues throughout the Southeast 1975 - 1981. We went to ALOT of shows and met countless bands. Rock music was my life. I quit my senior year of college to join a touring band and performed / tracked with numerous artists - my bands Gidget, Paper Dolls, She Said, Minority Rules, Superchick and duvasounds, as well as the Indigo Girls, Michelle Malone; with great producers / engineers including Brendan O’Brien and Nick DiDia at several studios in Atlanta, including my all time favorite, Southern Tracks.
