I am thrilled to be working as a Collaborative Lead Teacher for Pembina Hills Regional School Division this year. I began my teaching career as a high school teacher in 1999. I taught Social 10, 20, 30 and French 9, 10, 20, and 30 in a K-12 School in Leader, Saskatchewan. From there, I moved on to spend some time teaching CALM and Social 10, 20, 30 at ADLC (the Alberta Distance Learning Center). In 2003, I made the leap from high school to a Grade 1 & 2 combined French Immersion class at Barrhead Elementary. It was a huge change for me, shifting from my natural environment as a high school teacher to the completely foreign world of elementary school, but I soon fell in love with Div 1 and Div 2. For the past seven years, I have been teaching Grades 5 & 6 at Busby School, and loving it! As a classroom teacher, I have experimented with UDL and Differentiated Instruction, and I have always tried to incorporate new technologies into my teaching. I am excited about both Project Based Learning and the idea of eportfolios as a way to showcase student work. I can’t wait to learn more about instructional design with you and your students.
