"It's Never Too Late!" As a child I've always had dreams of becoming a nurse. Growing up I dealt with a very ill mother. Not understanding what was going on with her at that time, that was my drive to wanting to work in the medical field as a nurse. As I observed and assisted with my mothers medical needs as a little girl it was instilled in me the love and care that is needed to help take care of sick people. And that was what I wanted to do help take care of the sick.

I attended Durham High School and graduated in 1995. After high school I attended Winston Salem State University for a year and a half. I dropped out and had my first child in 1997. I came back home to Durham in pursuit to go back to school in 1998. I attended Durham Technical Community from 1998 through 2001 attempting to get my Associate Degree in Nursing or my degree in Medical Assistant but failed. However, I then decided to put forth effort and received my Certified Nursing Assistant License in March 2002..

Presently I work full time as a Nursing Assistant at Duke Regional Hospital. Currently I am enrolled at North Carolina Central University taking classes for the traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. I just completed my first two semesters after being out of school for 13 years.

I am a single mother of three girls raising one that as sickle cell disease. With this condition my family has been affected in many ways and this triggered me to return to school and accomplish my goals in becoming a nurse.

Obtaining my degree at the age of 40 is a life long dream. I am going to help make a difference in many people lives. In my future I will open my own mobile clinic for the community. I want to promote awareness, educate, and support our community with those skills and tools needed to have better lifestyles. I want to be able connect and network for and with our community to obtain medications needed, do assessments, and nourish our people back to health.
