Hailing from Bentong, Pahang, Tan has a doctorate in Education from University Malaya in Sports Management and Sports Science and a Masters in Sports Psychology and Physical Education. As a Master Trainer with the Ministry of Education, she led in the building and installation of standards and the training of the country’s leaders, policy makers and managers in education. She believes education can change people and has her eye set on the big bang: “When you groom a leader you make a bigger impact as he/she has influence over more people”. The volunteer director of the National Olympic Academy, Olympic Council Malaysia from 2009 to 2015 is a qualified coach and umpire for various sports like badminton, softball, netball, athletics, synchronized swimming and gymnastics. This expert in character building is passionate about sports and the wellbeing of the people, and now pursuing her interest in health and alternative healing. Kindness, gentleness and patience are her hallmark. She is quietly “lighting a candle to make the world a brighter place”.
