Tan Suee Chieh
The recipient of a Malaysian Leader of Tomorrow trophy as a teenager, Tan Suee Chieh attended The London School of Economics and Political Science, completing his studies with First Class Honours. Over the next two decades, Tan Chieh served Prudential plc in a number of roles throughout its Asian branches. He functioned as Company Actuary of Prudential Malaysia, Managing Director for Established Markets of Prudential Asia, and Chief Executive of Prudential Singapore. He also obtained an Outstanding Young Malaysian of the Year Award. Following his tenure with Prudential plc, Tan Suee Chieh traveled to the United States to participate in a Master's program in Organizational Psychology at Columbia University in Manhattan. After serving as President of the Asia-Pacific region for British consultancy SHL Group Limited, Tan Suee Chieh accepted the position of Chief Executive Officer of NTUC Income Insurance Co-Operative Limited in Singapore. Under Tan Suee Chieh’s guidance, NTUC Income has achieved respect in the country's financial industry, with a historically high growth period in 2010. More than 2 million residents utilize the 41-year-old insurance company’s general, health, life, and motor vehicle insurance policies. With a concern for his community, Tan Suee Chieh promotes charitable initiatives through NTUC Income’s support of Assumption Pathway School, sponsoring a program that encourages academically-challenged schoolchildren to achieve their dreams. He has also provided money to social causes, such as the nation's Community Chest. In 2010, under his leadership, NTUC Income unveiled OrangeAid, its flagship vehicle to help disadvantaged youth and children in Singapore. Under OrangeAid, the company will commit one percent of its annual insurance operating profits to adopted charities. Tan Suee Chieh gives back to his community in a personal capacity, serving as Vice Chair for the Executive Committee of the Singapore Children's Society. He also sits on the Board of Directors of the International Cooperative and Mutual Insurance Federation, NTUC Choice Homes, the Info-communications Development Authority of Singapore, and functions as the co-chairperson of the Institute of Service Excellence at Singapore Management University. In his free time, Tan Suee Chieh relaxes by reading, learning the Chinese language, and practicing yoga.
