Tanya Ulan

A professional with nearly 15 years of experience in the mortgage banking industry, Tanya Ulan serves FirsTrust Mortgage, Inc., in her capacity as a DE Mortgage Underwriter. In addition to performing duties related to underwriting mortgage loan applications and regulatory compliance, she works and communicates effectively with individuals in departments that guide loans from origination all the way through closing and post-closing. Continuing her professional development, Tanya Ulan keeps up-to-date on modern compliance issues, current financial products, and advances in quality control.

Before joining FirsTrust, Tanya Ulan worked for a division of Bank of America and non-profit organizations as a Claims Researcher where she evaluated loans for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and the Office of Thrift Supervision to determine if loans given home retention options were in compliance. Responsibilities included communicating with bank advocates, attorneys, religious organizations, and local political officials.

After studying communication arts and business administration in Marymount Manhattan College, Tanya Ulan began her career in mortgage banking as a Loan Processor and Loan Officer with First Jersey Mortgage Services, Inc., in 1998. There, she gained practical experience in a number of mortgage products, including conventional, FHA, VA, and construction residential loans, as well as, small commercial and business loans. She secured a monthly average of $2 million in origination volume for First Jersey prior to taking on duties as Director of Operations in Consumers Choice Mortgage Services, Inc., where she remained for seven years.

Over the course of her career, Ms. Ulan developed core skills applicable throughout the industry. She holds her Direct Endorsement (DE) to underwrite FHA loans and has experience with such important mortgage origination software systems as Calyx Point and Encompass in addition to knowledge of the internal networks at major national banks. Furthermore, Tanya Ulan is fluent in Spanish, bolstering her ability to communicate with a diverse range of clients.
