Tanya Lee Hernandez is the president and founder of Sugar Free Kids, a non-profit organization that has impacted over 10,000 people in Puerto Rico by providing support to families and children diagnosed with Type I Diabetes. She created a support group 12 months after her daughter Faviola was diagnosed with the condition. Her actios and efforts had made it possible to impact as many as 50 schools and organizations on the south of Puerto Rico and recently expanding to the west where there is much need for education and support services.
Sugar Free Kids is deeply involved in legislative efforts to find equality and secure the rights of children with Type 1 Diabetes. Her contributions to public health and the social well being of children and adolescents with Type 1 Diabetes is remakable. A true champion against diabetes!!!
