Sangwook Jeon
Sangwook Brian Jeon is a student of Economics and Mathematics at Carnegie Mellon University '14, and he intends to pursue a career in academia in the field. He is a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy '10, where his diverse studies culminated an independent study examining the ethics of revolution. He constantly pursues new knowledge in many relevant fields of economics, ranging from logic, game theory, and philosophy, as well as art and military history.
As a Research Intern at Conflict Kitchen from September 2010 to April 2011, he:
- Researched nations that the United States is in conflict with, primarily Middle Eastern Countries.
- Prepared documents and presentations for the researched raw data; collaborated with group members to further improve quality of research data.
- Coordinated large marketing projects by delegating other interns to put up posters and advertise the project around Pittsburgh; these efforts included predicting audience type and size.
As a Volunteer Database Consultant and Tutor from June 2009 to August 2009, he:
- Maintained and Upgraded an MS Excel database for the San Mateo Adult Literacy Program.
- Tutored adults of mostly Hispanic background that had English proficiency levels below that of 2nd graders.
Maintains skill sets of:
- Fluency in English and Korean; high proficiency in Iberian Spanish
- Expert and flexible use of 2010 MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint; Social Networking; PC and Mac
- Disciplined daily reading schedule of newspapers, reading The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Financial Times in print.
- Classical Music, particuarly Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms.
- 20th Century Art, particuarly late-era Klimts, Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Rene Gruau, and Lazlo Moholy-Nagy
- Cooking Italian and Korean cuisines, while learning Chinese cuisine as well
