"ABOUT GUSTAV WOLTMANN
Geneva is a clean and very safe city. A great place for security and raising a family. These are exactly the reasons I left Switzerland for India five days ago. Being a twenty year old young man, who has never left his home country, my personal journey to India was something that felt long overdue.
Growing up in Geneva was fine and pleasant as could be. Both of my parents had secure jobs that allowed me to have a very comfortable childhood. I was easily able to attend university and create any future that I pleased for myself. Of course, I am grateful to have been born into wealth and comfort, but there was a yearning inside of me that grew and grew as my life began to feel very uninspiring.
A few years back I saw something on the news about a festival being held in India. I remember sitting in front of the TV in awe of the images I witnessed, the river Ganges overflowing with pilgrims and the sounds of chanting resonating loudly. This was the 2003 Kumbh Mela festival that takes place every 12 years.
This Kumbh Mela festival held in Hardiwar, India had over 7 million attendees; it was the largest gathering of people in one place…ever.
I had to go. I was hooked on the idea when saw the people bathing in the river, taking part in a holy rite of passage. My knowledge of Hinduism is very limited but it didn’t matter, the act in itself was draw enough.

While in India
I have been in Haridwar for fives days and already sense a change building within myself. Being surrounded by so much faith, so much spirituality and ancient ritual, feels so different from home. I love it.
