Taqkiiyawna Samuels got her start in Event Production at 17 years old throwing parties for fellow classmates. Getting her first taste of entrepreneurship, she funded and founded an online magazine. Taqkii led Toxin Magazine, a lifestyle and culture publication as Editor-in-Chief & Publisher. Toxin Magazine has been an official media partner for Nolcha Fashion Week & Style Fashion Week maintaining a loyal readership. In 2012, Taqkiiyawna put a board of directors together to found Toxin Youth Foundation, a social welfare non-profit organization in Houston, TX. TYF quickly became her main focus, Taqkiiyawna dedicated 100% of her time to the organization, producing major fundraising events like the Fashion District Festival Sept 2018 at age 27. On the last day on the Fashion District Festival, Toxin Youth Foundation received a Proclamation from the Mayor of Houston. Sylvester Turner named September 23rd, "Toxin Youth Foundation Day".

The Award not only recognized TYF's community efforts but solidified her work in the City Taqkiiyawna grew up in. Taqkiiyawna was an honoree in the "Who's who in Black Houston" (2018, Tenth Edition)
