TaQuan Williams
Student and Volunteer in North Carolina
"Choose a job, and you will never have to work a day in your life" is a quote by Confucius that TaQuan love and lives by faithfully. TaQuan is a current student at North Carolina Central University studying Criminal Justice with a concentration in Juvenile Justice. He currently works with disadvantaged and misguided youth in Durham and Wake County. He has served on the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council in both Durham and Johnston county. After completing his Bachelor's degree, he plans to pursue a Master's in Social Work with a concentration in Juvenile Justice from North Carolina Central University. TaQuan not only see the need for positive black male figures in the minority community, but loves to teach, guide, and mentor underprivileged youth. He understands the causes and effects of disproportionately and inequality fueling his passion to start a non-profit working with juveniles, and their family that are involved in gangs, or are at risk for joining a gang. The program would help with providing resources, teaching professional development and life skills. Outside of working with juveniles and going to school. TaQuan has served his country for the last 5 years with the United States Air Force. Although school and helping people is his number one priority, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, attending concerts, engaging in small projects around the house, going to church, and racing.
