Hello ! My name’s Taraneh . I am a teacher and have over 19 years of experience teaching ESl to students of different ages and backgrounds. Last year I supplied as an elementary OT with YRDSB; however, this year I got a full time job in a private school teaching ESL credit courses and OSSLT.
Teaching has always been my passion. Ever since I was a child, I knew I wanted to be a teacher, so I turned my childhood dream into reality, and here I am today! Teaching for me is so much fun and I enjoy every minute of my class as I have turned my passion into my profession.
I completed my Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in York University and joined YRDSB in 2017. Of course, my teaching journey as an ESL teacher had started way before that. I obtained my TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) Certificate from Trinity College, London, England in 2004, and that’s where I discovered what I loved most to teach, ESL. I also have years of experience preparing students for English Proficiency Tests such as IELTS, TOEFL and CAEL. In order to get university admissions, some students need to take these tests as a proof of their language proficiency; therefore, I have designed courses that will effectively help students meet the required expectations.
I am happily married and live with my husband in a cozy house in Richmond Hill. When I am not working, I enjoy both indoor and outdoor leisure activities. I love cooking; I am very interested in creating new recipes and learning about different cuisines. I am keen on hiking and travelling as well; I would love to see as many places as I can in this world.
I am very enthusiastic about using more technology in my classroom. In fact, this has been my professional goal this year to update myself in respect to technology in teaching. As an educator, I feel the need to keep up with the rapid pace of technology as this is one major source of engagement for the new generation.
I'm looking forward to learning more, and I am very glad to know you all.
