Tara Pedersen

Hi everyone, I’m Tara from Cambridge, Ontario, Canada. I am currently in my 15th year of teaching and work for the Waterloo Regional District School Board. I started out teaching grade 7 with the Thames Valley District School board but then moved to an elementary school with the Waterloo Region in order to be closer to home. I am presently at a school with approximately 600 students where I teach health and phys.ed to our kindergarten classes as well as to all of our French Immersion classes from grades 1-6. I have also taught my fair share of core French over the years and still have to do a bit when scheduling requires me to do so. One of my main reasons for taking this course is to ensure that I have the correct qualifications on paper in order to maintain the phys.ed portion of my teaching assignment but I am also eager to learn new ideas to bring into my teaching assignment.

Outside of teaching, I have two children ages 9 and 3 that keep me busy with all of their activities! I sit on my daughter's school's parent council as the fundraising coordinator and I am also currently the President of the Board at the Montessori School of Cambridge which is the school my son attends. When I do have two seconds for myself I try to hit the gym, go to yoga or play volleyball.
