Tatum Hajjar

My name is Tatum Hajjar and I am a Junior at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in the Isenberg School of Management with a Marketing major and English minor. I'm originally from Methuen, Massachusetts where I have lived all my life with my parents and older brother. Growing up, I always followed in my mother's footsteps and admired her fashion sense. I would always walk around her closet to look at all her clothes and try on all her shoes, which did not fit me yet in the slightest! She had told me since I was a child that your outfit should start with your shoes and as I grew up, I kept this in my head. Whenever I went to a store or needed to make outfit, my mother's voice goes through my head to start with the shoes. Because of this upbringing, shoes have become a great love of mine. I have taken the enjoyment from simplying buying a new pair of shoes and turned it into a passion for everything about shoes. Whether it involves the print, the heel, the buckles or ties, the color, or the type of material, it all interests me. For my future, I am trying to use these passions to create a living. I am attending a trip with Isenberg School of Management to Italy in January where I hope to extend my love for shoes and fashion. The whole trip will be absolutely amazing, but the part of the trip that I am looking forward to the most is the division where our group will head to Milan. We just happen to be there during Sales Week!! Hopefully I can leave a little room in my luggage for the souvenirs :) Plus, two weeks ago, I had taken a trip with the Isenberg Women in Business and Marketing Clubs to the TJXX Headquarters in Framingham and had learned about a dream career of mine. I never knew I could actually use this love to make a living, but this day trip showed me it is a possibility. At this company, there is a title of "Buyer" for many different departments. Who wouldn't want to shop for a living? Especially for me, someone with such a great desire for it. I learned about an opportunity that TJXX offers and that Isenberg assists students with receiving an internship at TJXX with a chance to receive a job after graduation and work your way up to becoming a Buyer for the company. I hope to one day make my way up to this position and use my love and passion for shoes to help buy fashionable shoes for the company and costumers!
